Reminder to Graduates and Parents

As graduation season approaches, Gadsden ISD reminds all seniors and their families that any outstanding fees and fines must be paid in full to be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony. Schools are available to work with families on payment plans if needed. We encourage parents/guardians to contact their student’s campus as soon as possible to check for any outstanding balances. For questions or assistance, please reach out to your school’s administration. Ensuring all requirements are met will help make graduation a smooth and memorable experience for our students!

Two Alta Vista Students Accepted into Prestigious UNM BA/MD Program

Gadsden Independent School District is proud to celebrate a remarkable achievement by two students from Alta Vista Early College High School — Briana Hernandez and Evelyn Padilla — who have been accepted into the University of New Mexico’s Combined BA/MD Degree Program. This highly competitive program, designed to address New Mexico’s physician shortage, selects only 28 students statewide each year. Its mission is to support aspiring doctors who are committed to practicing medicine in underserved communities across New Mexico. As part of the program, Briana and Evelyn will complete their undergraduate degrees at UNM and, upon meeting the academic and testing requirements, move directly into medical school at the UNM School of Medicine. The program includes full tuition, room and board, and specialized academic and mentoring support. “This is an extraordinary honor,” said Katherine Angel, Counselor at Alta Vista. “Both Briana and Evelyn have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their education and a deep desire to serve others. We are incredibly proud of them.” This recognition is a powerful reflection of Gadsden ISD’s dedication to preparing students for competitive and life-changing opportunities. We congratulate Briana Hernandez and Evelyn Padilla and look forward to following their journey as future leaders in New Mexico’s medical community.
